Recently returned from a wonderful small group (8) 6-day tour to Slovenia. The natural scenery is just fantastic, and the welcome received in various tour locations (mountain plateau walking, craft beer brewery, vineyard, truffle 'hunting', caves & gorge, salami producers) could not have been bettered.

Slovenia is rich in rural beauty and has a wonderful cuisine, influenced by its diverse landscapes. This six-day tour will show you the mesmerising scenery and the delicious flavours of the country's different regions.
Your first stop is Ljubljana, where you can stroll cobbled streets and people-watch in local cafes. Kamnik, the centre of Slovenia's craft beer production is also on your itinerary and you'll visit the town's biggest brewery for a tour and tasting.
You'll see stunning landmarks including the famous Lake Bled, the majestic Triglav National Park where you'll walk the Tolmin Gorges, and the Vipava Valley, where you'll taste some local wines.
A highlight of the tour will be a Truffle Hunting excursion where you'll learn about the process of finding truffles before enjoying a hearty homestead dinner.

Once you've arrived, transferred to your hotel and checked in, you'll have the opportunity to explore the colourful and charming old town of Slovenia's capital before a group meeting in the evening with your guide.
There's also the opportunity to eat at Strelec Restaurant, Ljubljana's Michelin-star restaurant in Ljubljana Castle, not included.
After breakfast, you'll travel to see some of the country's most picturesque scenery.
You'll travel to the spectacular 'Veliko Planino' or 'the Big Pasture Plateau' for lunch. Accessible by cable car, it offers an insight into the traditional rural countryside with shepherd's huts and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
The next stop is the pretty mediaeval town of Kamnik, the epicentre of Slovenia's craft beer scene, where you'll visit one of the local breweries and of course, have a tasting.
Foodies may want to eat at Hisa Linhart for dinner, a local Michelin-star restaurant (not included).
Begin the day at Lake Bled, where the emerald water, hilltop castle and tiny island church come together in one of Slovenia's most photographed views, before lacing up for a gorge walk that trades postcard views for something a little wilder underfoot.
From there, hit the road for one of Europe's great drives: a scenic route through Triglav National Park, with plenty of pull-offs for photos as the mountains close in around you. For lunch, you have a choice. Stick with the group, or peel off for something rather special - a table at Hiša Franko, Slovenia's only three-Michelin-star restaurant (subject to availability, and booked separately at your own cost).
After lunch, it's on to the Vipava Valley, Slovenia's under-the-radar wine region, to wind the day down with a tasting as the sun drops behind the vines.
After breakfast and a leisurely morning, you'll drive to Slovenia's award-winning family-run and owned Olive Oil Farm. Enjoy a short tour and of course learn about and taste some delicious olive oil.
When you've finished, you'll be transferred to the location of your truffle-hunting excursion.Now you'll experience a presentation with the truffle hunter and his dog, learn and understand about the training and the process of finding truffles. After enjoy a rustic truffle-themed homestead dinner with your passionate and welcoming host.
Alternatively, should you wish to you can skip dinner to have the opportunity to eat at Cob for dinner, a local Michelin-star restaurant (subject to availability, not included in the price).
Explore the mesmerising wonders of the Skocjan Caves on a captivating tour. Traverse through the vast underground chambers adorned with stalactites and stalagmites, and witness the awe inspiring underground river that carves its way through the limestone. After your cave tour you'll be transferred back to Ljubljana. Embark on a culinary adventure in Ljubljana with a food walking tour that will tantalize your tastebuds.
