Stay in Iceland's capital, Reykjavík and enjoy an introduction to its spectacular landscapes including smouldering volcanoes, geysers, glaciers and bubbling thermal pools on this short break full of unforgettable moments.
During your itinerary, enjoy a number of included excursions, while also enhancing your experience with some optional tours. You'll discover the sights of Reykjavík on a guided tour and have plenty of time during the week to explore further.
Optional excursions include a trip to the famous Blue Lagoon with its thermal pools and a Golden Circle tour, where you can take in the three stunning locations in the southwest of Iceland: Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area and the Gullfoss waterfall.
You'll also have the opportunity, if the conditions are right, to witness the enchanting Aurora Borealis. Seeing the Northern Lights is a bucket list experience for many, and you'll depart the city on an included tour to see the vibrant greens, pinks and purples - hopefully - dance across the sky.
Fly from your chosen airport to Keflavík. Meet your tour manager and transfer by coach to the Hotel Cabin in Reykjavík for your four-night stay.
This morning, embark on a guided city tour of Reykjavík. A great introduction to Iceland's capital, you'll see landmarks such as the Presidential Residence and the towering Hallgrim's Church.
This afternoon, you could choose to go an optional excursion to the Blue Lagoon. These warm waters have become one of Iceland's most recognisable attractions. Alternatively, explore the sights of Reykjavík at your leisure.
If you choose to go on the optional Golden Circle tour, you'll see three fantastic sights, starting with Þingvellir - the green expanse where Iceland's ancient parliament used to meet. You'll also stop in Haukadalur, beside the original Geysir and time the gap between the eruptions from the nearby, and far more frequent, Strokkur spout. End the trip with a visit to the vast cascade of the Gullfoss waterfall.
This evening, head out of the city to search for the Aurora Borealis - the enchanting Northern Lights. Should conditions be right, you'll see the vibrant colours flickering in the Icelandic night sky. A bucket list experience for many, the phenomenon is a sight to behold.
Explore Reykjavík at leisure today, or join an optional excursion to Iceland's southern shores. Discover wild, rugged Iceland journeying across the lava plateau, down onto the southern coastal lowlands and across the mighty river Ölfusá. Explore Eyrarbakki, a coastal village with many old wooden houses, and marvel at the Eyjafjallajökull volcano - which famously closed down European airspace in 2010. Other highlights include the Skógafoss waterfall, the icy wall of Sólheimajökull and Vík í Mýrdal - the southernmost village in Iceland. After lunch (not included), stop on the black sandy beach at Reynisfjara - famous for its birdlife.
After breakfast, transfer back to Keflavík Airport for your flight home.
