CHARACTER & STYLE

Formerly a 16th-century house, there is a homely feeling, while the subtropical gardens create a magical element. Eclectic artworks and individually styled rooms give off a mismatched Alice in Wonderland vibe. The hotel is a delight to explore.

THE FACILITIES

Expect attentive service - staff are happy to give recommendations and tips, or just have a natter. The cascading gardens provide plenty of places to relax and take in the sea views. In cooler weather, cosy up with a drink by the log fire in the lounge.

Food & Drink

There's a focus on fish and seafood, naturally. In the summer, feast on grilled mackerel or crab salad on the terrace, and when it's cooler, devour steamed Fowey mussels and Cornish cheeses in the conservatory. The terrace restaurant has a fine dining menu. The hake, wild mushroom and oxtail dumpling was an utterly yummy treat.

The Restaurant: 2 AA Rosette, nose-to-tail sustainable dining, seasonal menus. Open daily for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.
