Depart Porto late morning and cruise to the small village of Folgosa, known for its rich history and beautiful scenery. Folgosa's castle dates back to the 12th century and you'll find many churches in the village. The ship will be docked here overnight.
Depart Folgosa this morning for Vega Terrón, where you'll stay on board overnight. Known for its breathtaking natural landscapes, Vega Terrón is an ideal base for exploring the beauty and diversity of the border region between Portugal and Spain.
With a full day in Vega Terrón, you may wish to take an excursion to Salamanca, the fascinating Spanish city known for its historic architecture and lively atmosphere. This university city has a magnificent cathedral and the Plaza Mayor is in the heart of its historic centre. Alternatively, you may wish to stay in Portugal and visit Freixo de Espada à Cinta, in the heart of the Douro International Natural Park. This evening, arrive in Pocinho, where the ship will be docked overnight.
Depart Pocinho this morning for Pinhão, where the ship will be docked overnight. Encircled by terraced hillsides, Pinhão is located on a particularly lovely bend of the river. Its home to many historic Port wineries, so there's no better place to sample some of the region's famous wine. The train station is an attraction in its own right, with beautiful azulejo (tile) panels.
Depart Pinhão this morning and arrive in Régua at lunchtime, where the ship will be docked overnight. Régua is a charming town in the heart of the Douro valley and is surrounded by majestic vineyards and terraced hillsides. The town is well known for its wines and is perfect for those that wish to learn more about the region's wine-making traditions - as well as sampling a glass or two.
This morning, depart Régua for your return journey to Porto. You'll pass by Entre-os-Rios, which sits between the Douro and Tamega rivers. Arrive in Porto this afternoon and spend time exploring this enchanting city. Walk through the medieval centre and visit the Clerigos Tower and Cathedral; enjoy a boat ride in a rabelos, one of the famous wooden port wine boats; or tour one of the famous wine cellars. Stay on board, docked in Porto for your final evening.
Disembark PORTO MIRANTE and transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
PORTO MIRANTE
The PORTO MIRANTE made its maiden voyage in 2024 and has been specially adapted to cruise the Douro and its locks. Accommodating 120 guests, the ship has 60 cabins - the upper and middle decks have French balconies - and all cabins face outwards. The ship boasts two restaurants, a panoramic lounge with bar and a sky lounge that extends over two decks. The spacious sun deck has a pool and you'll also find a state-of-the-art fitness centre on board.
