There are no sea views but it's only a five-minute walk to the beach. Visit Alnwick for its famous castle and garden (ten minutes away) or head north along the coast for a string of attractions including Craster fishing village, Bamburgh and Dunstanburgh castles, and Howick gardens.
The hotel is on Alnmouth's one-way main street, but away from the beach end; it's relatively quiet and easy to find - just three miles from the A1.
By car: 2 hours 30 minute from York, 3 hours 30 minutes from Manchester and 6 hours 30 minutes from London. Free on-street parking available.
By train: London to Alnmouth takes under 4 hours, after which, it's a 5-minute drive (or 20-minute walk) to the hotel. Book trains to Alnmouth.
CHARACTER & STYLE
The original features of this end-terrace Victorian villa have been retained, such as the high ceilings, tiled fireplaces and polished-wood staircase. However, the décor and furnishings are stylish and modern - think pale grey walls, modern rugs on stripped-wood floors and designer lights and artworks to give a cool feel.
Owner Harvey, helped by his little terrier, Roxy, runs the place with a laidback charm. He'll be happy to dry clothes, store bikes or prepare picnic hampers; ask for recommendations on the local eateries. There's no lounge, but guests can sit in the dining room. There's a a log fire on colder days, and when it's warmer, there's a decking area at the back.

Food & Drink
Breakfasts are a relaxed affair and can often linger on through the morning. Begin with fresh fruit salad, Greek yoghurt and granola, before devouring dishes such as quesadillas or mushrooms with crème fraiche on sourdough. A good choice of evening options is within walking distance and Harvey is happy to give candid advice. We loved the weekend specials, and the honesty bar is very reasonably priced.
Breakfast: served daily from 8:30-10am. Dishes cooked to order include breakfast quesadilla, smashed avocado on toast and Full English.
