High Newton-by-the-Sea is a quiet village with no services other than the pub and a caravan park. Whilst the village might not be the most attractive, it's only a ten-minute walk to Low Newton Beach, one of the coast's prettiest. Explore further beaches at Beadnell and Alnmouth, plus pay a visit to Alnwick Castle and Garden or visit the nearby Ship Inn pub and microbrewer.

The handsome pub food here is of impressive portions; the beer-battered fish and chips overhang the plate and even the lunchtime sandwiches could feed two.
