THE LOCATION

St Mark's Square is a 15-minute walk away, and you're located in tranquil Sant'Elena, far from the crowds. Formerly a convent, this boutique hotel is moments from the verdant expanse of the Biennale Gardens.

The vaporetto stops just one minute from the hotel and can take you to the train station or out to the islands of Murano and Burano.

By plane: London to Venice takes 2 hours, after which an airport boat or water taxi takes 1 hour 20 minutes. Book flights to Venice.

CHARACTER & STYLE

This is a beautiful boutique hotel - where plants line every shelf, low-hung glass pendant lights are not just a design touch and velvet drapes dress the windows. Floor-to-ceiling doors allow natural light to flood in and lead to the courtyard garden.

THE FACILITIES

You'll be well looked after by staff - from the warm welcome on arrival, to the restaurant staff who'll happily explain the menu and the reception staff who will organise transfers and tickets. Relax in the internal garden after a day of exploring the busy city centre.

ROOMS

The teal colour scheme continues in the rooms, with plush velvet headboards. Stylish touches include terazzo-tiled bathrooms and vintage telephones. Some ground-floor rooms have garden access; choose an upper-floor room for a terrace.

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee-making facilities, TV, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi

FOOD & DRINK

Enjoy simple Venetian cuisine made with the freshest local produce at Savor - where the atmosphere is great. We loved the classic Parmigiana di melanzane - a beautifully presented stack of aubergine, mozzarella, parmesan and tomato with sprigs of fresh basil. We also recommend the light and flavoursome fritto misto (fried mixed seafood).

Savor Restaurant and Bar: Venetian cuisine, open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
