THE LOCATION
La Palma's nickname is La Isla Bonita, and Barlovento is one of its most beautiful parts. The village capital is surrounded by laurel forests and you'll find the natural swimming pools Piscinas de La Fajana nearby, which bubble like Mentos in Coca-Cola once the Atlantic surges into them.
This hotel is a (spectacularly scenic) 45-minute drive from the airport, in the far north of the island.
By plane: flights from London take around 9 hours with a stop in Barcelona; flights from Birmingham take around 11 hours with a stop in Tenerife. The hotel is a 45-minute taxi ride from the airport. Free parking on-site. Book flights to La Palma.
CHARACTER & STYLE
The lighthouse's tower is a picture postcard image if ever there was one - the tower reaches 34 metres high, and after you climb the 150+ steps you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the northeast of the island. If you're travelling with a group, you can book the entire lighthouse or yourselves.
