The white exterior screams traditional seaside hotel, but the interior has been thoroughly modernised. Calming colour schemes are brightened up by fun splashes of yellow, orange and blue. The gardens overlook the water and large windows make the most of the views.

Most guests come here for the spa - small but well-equipped, it has an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and salt room. Treatments are available. Kayaks can be hired directly from the hotel gardens, while the sun loungers overlooking the water are very appealing for relaxation.

Both restaurants have harbour views, making for memorable dining experiences. The Jetty showcases local seafood and New Forest produce; Upper Deck is more casual and has an outdoor terrace. The surf and turf is tempting - fillet steak with tiger prawns, scallops, squid, fries and béarnaise sauce.

The Jetty: award-winning restaurant. Open daily for lunch, Mon-Sat for dinner.

Upper Deck: restaurant and terrace, British cuisine and afternoon tea. All-day menu, open daily.
